Supplementing root zone mix with Milorganite builds better greens! Milorganite has been a staple of many golf courses time-tested turf management program for years.  Not only does the natural organic fertilizer deliver visual results, it also increases the fertility of the turf and soil. Greens that are constructed using a USGA-approved root zone mix often contain 80 percent sand and 20 percent peat.  Due to the high-sand content, the mixture frequently lacks adequate levels of organic matter and has a low cation-exchange capacity.  The resulting weaknesses - a tendency to develop localized dry spots, shallow rooting of turfgrass and high rates of potassium leaching - are not uncommon on greens across the country.
