In Business for over 47 Years Grassland Equipment has been a full line Toro Distributor since 1962. Our main headquarters is located in Latham, New York, where we have been located for more then 45 years. During that time, Grassland has won numerous awards from Toro, including several of the prestigious Toro’s Partners in Excellence Awards. Our Parts, Service and Irrigation Divisions have all received top national honors in recent years. We pride ourselves on servicing our customers and providing high quality products to meet their needs.

We have taken aggressive action to transform our company into an organization prepared for the 21st century by dedicating ourselves to continually updating our technology, training our staff and competitively meeting customer requirements.

Grassland is a family owned business owned and operated by Horst Pogge and his son Kirk.

Horst Pogge (Chairman of the Board), deceased 2009, had a background in agriculture and farm management, and started Grassland Equipment in 1962. Under his leadership, Grassland expanded its customer base and product offerings to become one of the largest Turf distributors in this marketplace. Horst was also actively involved in many community and civic organizations in the Capital District area, and has been honored for those contributions on many occasions.

Kirk Pogge, PE, CID, CGIA, CLIA, CIC, SCPS, President and C.E.O. joined the firm in 1988 after working for 10 years as a consulting engineer. Kirk has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Kirk is also a licensed Professional Engineer in New York State an IA Certified Irrigation Designer as well as a Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor, Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor, Certified Irrigation Contractor, and an SMEI Certified Professional Salesperson.

A Strong and Growing Company
In 1994, Grassland purchased Eaton Equipment and expanded across New York State. The company now employs nearly 60 people, and services a market including all of upstate New York, the state of Vermont and five counties in Pennsylvania.

Grassland has an extensive product offering that meets the needs of our customer base. From seeds and fertilizers, turf chemicals, drainage and golf supplies, to nearly every type of outdoor power equipment used to grow and maintain healthy turf, including mowing, trimming and aeration equipment, as well as irrigation systems and controls.

Grassland now has three locations and services all of Upstate New York, the State of Vermont and several counties in Pennsylvania with Irrigation and Turf Equipment.

This 55,000 square foot facility includes; All our administrative offices, and –

A Service Facility with seven mechanics, as well as the office of our Service Manager, Jack Wands. In 1996, Jack Wands, Service Manager at Grassland since 1990, received the top award for Service Managers from the Toro Company. This award was based on Grassland’s excellence in service and high customer satisfaction levels.

Grassland’s main Parts Warehouse is in Latham. Grassland has maintained a high fill rate on Toro parts and has been recognized for their superior parts service by the Toro Company. Jim Bondi, Grassland’s Parts Manager, has been with Grassland for more than 25 years.

Our Irrigation Department stocks a full inventory of parts and wholegoods at the Latham facility.

At our Latham location, we also stock: golf supplies, seed, fertilizer and a variety of turf maintenance products.

Other Locations include:

Blasdell, New York: This 5000 square foot facility serves as a support center for our Commercial and Irrigaiton activities in Western New York.

Liverpool, New York: This 10,000 square foot service facility stocks commercial equipment, fast-moving parts and irrigation supplies. Also, included at this facility are a complete commercial service shop and showroom. This is a full service commercial facility, and is managed by Roger Lind, Sales Manager of the Commercial Division.

Also in Liverpool we have recently added a new 8000 sf location for storage, prep and display of Pre-Owned Equipment.
